Electronic Refractometer

I really want one. I just can't justify the cost yet since I don't NEED one :)

Same here but if it makes taking pre and post measurements easy by just a drop of the liquid gold, I may invest.

I already have a regular refractometer that works well. There's other equipment that I should buy that thats cheaper that would actually make an impact in my beer, like a wort aeration system or pH meter. But that's just me :)

We all have our eyes on something....nothing to do with need though! I really do not need anything else to make beer, really!
I think I can stick with my handy analog refractometer, as it’s not broken, so doesn’t need fixing.
I do need a new quick read digital thermometer. I think my wife must have dropped ours, as it’s broken where the probe enters the housing. I have never dropped it, the cats don’t use it, so that leaves my wife as the culprit.

You will still be limited to pre-fermented product. Seems like alot
Right, I just read that on the link that it doesn’t work with fermented product. So as I stated above, my analog refracto works fine with my Brewer’s Friend WRI calculated from the spreadsheet.

I wouldn't be so quick to absolve the cats. They can be little jerks sometimes. We have three so I know!

I couldn't justify the cost for just the hydrometer functionality, but I do a few rolling sour blends and the ABV gets a bit rough to calculate after a few years. So the ones with ABV and gravity testing have attracted my attention. But I tell myself, it's homebrew, as long as I'm roughly there for ABV it doesn't really matter.

I have consider getting one, but my hand refractometer still works. I’ve had them go bad in the past, so who knows?

It's funny, I have a handheld refracto that I used when I first started brewing but could never get the post ferm SG/Brix to make sense (pre Brewersfriend membership) so I just started using a hydrometer. I think I'll go back to the refracto. It is so much easier than the hydro.

Been doing this hobby like 7 years. Never have had hydrometer, lol. Used the refractometer from day one.

@Semper Sitientem wrote here about one he uses a couple of months ago.
I have a Milwaukee, but it looks identical to the Hannah. I bought mine pre-Covid and it was around $135. It works great and it does work on fermented beer. You have to calculate a wort adjustment factor, which is explained on BF, and use the refractometer calculator. Is it worth it? It’s all relative. I’ve lost more than that at the blackjack table and I have nothing to show for it but regret. I’m a DIYer and it’s easy for me to justify buying new tool because it helps me accomplish a task faster and more accurate. I like home brewing so I apply the same logic.
