hi all,
Bought a pack of Danstar and found out at home the 'Best Before Date' is 11/2016
the pack looks fine, not soft or inflated, should i toss it? use it?

thanks Jeffpn,
I use only dry yeast and never did a starter, should i follow the rehydrate instructions of Lallemand?

It’d be more than that. I don’t do starters (or rehydrate), but it involves malt extract, something to feed the yeast.

got it, i'll give it some from my next brew this weekend
many thanks!

Google homebrew yeast starter for more info.

its fine, I've had dried yest for years and it work very well, add a spoonful of suger and its back to work

In this case, do a starter. I don't think rehydration alone will do it. You probably have enough viable cells in there to do a fermentation, just not a good one.

thats funny I found a packet of 04 I had for 4 years and it took off like it was new, dry is dry, the only difference is if got moist

thank you for the feedback, i'll give it a try and trust it will work well
