hi all, Bought a pack of Danstar and found out at home the 'Best Before Date' is 11/2016 the pack looks fine, not soft or inflated, should i toss it? use it?
thanks Jeffpn, I use only dry yeast and never did a starter, should i follow the rehydrate instructions of Lallemand?
It’d be more than that. I don’t do starters (or rehydrate), but it involves malt extract, something to feed the yeast.
its fine, I've had dried yest for years and it work very well, add a spoonful of suger and its back to work
In this case, do a starter. I don't think rehydration alone will do it. You probably have enough viable cells in there to do a fermentation, just not a good one.
thats funny I found a packet of 04 I had for 4 years and it took off like it was new, dry is dry, the only difference is if got moist
