Bock Beer...winter is here!

Actually looked at my recipe and it's 7.5% go at least 5% victory
Couple years ago my friend said he wanted a malt bomb so upped it. We all liked it
Do you do small test batches or just go for it?
aint got time for test batches lol. my whole setup is smaller then my old pilot system.

Ill make a Version 2 bock recipe and share it.

Ever made a dumper and just served it?

nope! my total batch costs are generally between $150 and 300. Way cheaper to dump it then get bad reviews/loose potential customers.

but also i have been doing this for a very long time! this is my 240th batch on this brewhouse alone.

i have dumped 3 batches at this spot. once was honey and voss making harsh mead flavors. Once was that i lost my glycol. Once was when i was first trying working on the spunding valve.

Didnt buy any Shinerbock, but i thought about it.

the thing about Bock is it is one of those beers that is just so much better on tap IMO

everything is better on tap, assuming the lines are cleaned regularly.

i really enjoyed the doppelbock compared to the overhopped dead guy ale. to be safe, i wont call it a bock in general because my rednecks wont understand what that is.

call it Goat ale
if they drink a few Im sure there will be some head butting

I made a mistake in Germany, I saw people drinking beer so ordered a Bock the waiter was against and he said " sir, this is a coffee house not a beer garden"

I should have amended that.

I have made beers that were not as good as i wanted them. that is one of the reasons that i generally keep a decent stock of fruit/flavors on hand. I pitched blackberry into the tripel that i made because it was a little harsh right out of the tank. i served the first 2 kegs and they were honestly really good. i squirrelled the last 2 kegs away in the corner of my cooler for about 6 months. i am actually going to put those on draft whenever my next line opens up!

I had my boss dryhop the wrong tank one time. on a different tank, he threw my fruit for a sour into a double ipa. which worked out nicely lol. He doesnt really get asked to dryhop anymore....

i like goat ale. maybe Tybee Goat ale

I named my first extract beer "Redneck Blood" because I cut my hand on the thermometer when I had the wort chiller in the kettle.

I heard about that. I also heard a much worse story tonight. Y'all be careful about trying to pack too much shit into a kettle.

boil overs kill brewers every year. I know a female brewer locally who got badly burned a little while back.

I have seen a boil over rainbow out of the top of a the kettle and fall 6 feet away from the kettle...it is not to be fucked with. on the big system, i would not let people up onto the brewhouse while i was boiling. Also kept our water hose at hand. Estops are a must on big gear. I was shocked that the little spiedel brewhouse came with a controller mounted at knee height and no e stop to be found.
