Will be brewing a RR Row 2 Hill 56 clone within the next month. The only change I want to make is increase the color to more of a copper then golden without changing the flavor.

The recipe uses C20. if I increase it to c40 (same quantity) the color goes from 5.4 SRM to 6.62. I would like to be closer to 7.5-8. Currently I am at 5.7% C40. What would be the best option to increase the color? Chocolate malt, Carafa III or something else?

Blackprinz or midnight wheat (one ounce or maybe two) would do it. Or, if you wanted more of an orange hue, you could add Munich malt to the grainbill in a low/moderate amount.

Chocolate malt, Carafa III and roasted barley all have a flavor, black malt, bittered black in small amounts will be fine too as well as yoopers picks

If you only want to darken the wort, you might try Sinamar, a black malt extract with very little flavor.

Thanks for the replies. Will probably go with Midnight Wheat, .75 oz will get me slightly over 8.3 SRM.
