i tried searching for this but couldn't find anything related.

It would be useful to be able to email a list of ingredients for a particular recipe, either to yourself or someone else. Easy access at the LHBS.

The upcoming app may solve all this, but it would still be nice to send off an ingredient list.

Thoughts?

Re: Email ingredient list

For now we have the Export tab on the recipe view page. You can get a text version of the recipe there. We will add 'email recipe' to the task list.

Re: Email ingredient list

We evaluated this pretty closely. Unfortunately this opens up a potential security issue. In light of that we feel the current functionality is a good balance between security and usability.

Right now we have it setup so the system can only email people who have signed up. You can trigger an email to youself (for example if you change your account name it sends a notification). We can also send email to users who have not unsubscribed from the notification list (we rarely send out messages because we don't want to pester people).

However, it is a totally different situation when the system generates an email to an unverified third party on your behalf. We're not worried about real users, but we are worried about spammers who could abuse the functionality (for example, email a recipe full of fake prescription drugs and cheap car loan links).

So, long story short, we think the following two options work well enough as is:

A) If it is your recipe, simply share it at the recipe edit page, then email the link. We just added some buttons on the recipe view page where you can tweet/FB/G+ the recipe through your social networks.

B) Take the text version of the recipe and copy/paste that into an email. That version is available on the View Recipe page, under the Export -> Text option.
