I went to Italy for a month with an under seat carry on and a small backpack as a personal item. I went to Hawaii for 5 days, then on an aircraft carrier for 6 days with the same luggage. (It was hot in Hawaii and freezing on the carrier).

If I can do that, anybody can.

May be taking a trip to Wally World tomorrow to find some travel size stuff. The liquids I was going to put in the checked bag ain't gonna work for a carry on.
 
If you can't fit it in your carry on you don't need it

My wife uses any opportunity to pack as an experiment to see how much shit she can fit in bags. Like every bag multiple bags… I will tell you a funny story on the Zoom meeting Saturday about when we flew into Rome and a navy buddy met us at the airport. We had a lot of shit in Europe :)

in '07 I made my wife a deal; We can take a vacation to Europe, you pick the destination, I pick the transportation. It was an easy sale.
I grabbed a motorcycle just outside Dublin for a few days. Did it again the next year and then again in summer of '08, Germany, Switzerland and some Italy. She had to fit everything in one of 2 side cases and a top case on the bike.

She was fundamentally disappointed with the lack of storage, but she made it work.
2010 we went back to Ireland and over to the Isle of Man for the TT. She did better this time, we jumped over to Scotland for a bit and didn't do as well. She ended up having to ship over her vacation loot. This gave me a bit more room for a bottle of 12 y.o. whiskey from the Bushmills distillery. It's a good thing the bottle came in a container because those luggage bags were STUFFED.
