    Switching to kegs

4 years ??? what's your secret Bent Nail?? I assume you are talking about how long the co2 lasts? I pay $70 in NZ for a 3kg refill and I am lucky to get 3 months out of mine. I run 1 keg, sometimes 2 and use co2 to flush lines, kegs, do enclosed transfers etc.. but 3 month would be a max. cheers.

Brewzilla Gen4 65L water measurements out?

Hi there, Just purchased a new Brewzilla Gen4 65L and did a water level test today to see how accurate it is. discovered it is out by 2 litres. Example = 30 liters of water at 15C measures 28l in the kettle. just interested if anyone has done a test as it is quite a bit and needs to be allowed...

End of keg flatter and sweeter.

Thanks for your reply, it wont be trub as I do closed transfer to fermenter using a float and dip tube filter kit in my allrounder fermenter so I can see it going in and always ferment a litre or so more so that I dont suck up any gunk. cheers.

End of keg flatter and sweeter.

Yes, gas connected all the time. I checked for leaks but found none and have recently replace all my poppets. I have a new hazy in the keg now, about 12 pours in and tasting great, nicely carbonated. I am going away tomorrow and back on the 19th so will be interesting to see how the beer is on...

End of keg flatter and sweeter.

Hi Trailben, I dont believe I am burst carbing as I don't force carb as it is already partially carbed in the fermentor so I have the reg set at 12 psi to achieve around 2.2 - 2.5 vols carbonation for a pale ale. I don't play with the pressure so it should be the same pour to the end ? cheers.

End of keg flatter and sweeter.

I have reg set at 12psi, keg is chilled to 4 degrees. I pressure ferment at 10psi and use carbonation stone in keg to carbonate. cheers.

End of keg flatter and sweeter.

Hi brewers, been kegging (19L Corny's) for a while now and finding the last 10 - 15 pours seem to come out sweeter and flatter than the rest. I generally up the CO2 near the end to compensate or shorten the line. I have played around with lines based on videos and calculators and get a great...

    Dry Hop Under pressure

Hi Vallka, you have probably sorted this already but I just come across it and will add my 10 cents worth. I have been using the allrounder for a couple of years now and dry hopping definitely not a downfall. I get good hoppy beers with great aroma. I do closed transfer into keg. I set my...

Oat Stout water calcs v low ph

Hi Guys, I brewed my first Oat Stout last week but couldn't get the PH up without putting my salt additions out too much but brewed anyway. Got my target water was within recommended brewing range but PH for mash on calculator was 4.68. To get it up to the 5.2 range I had to alter the salts so...

    Batch size confusion

OK I probably worded that wrong. I understand boil off rates and grain/hop absorbtion etc.and how they affect the values. Im not a technical man but more of a practical one so I know how to brew a good beer, understand so much of the science but some things I dont get. Lets say I have just...

    Batch size confusion

Hi There, Can someone explain to me why batch size (fermentor) changes OG, IBU, FG, ABV and SRM. Surely if I have brewed a batch in the same kettle and transferred into fermentor it should be the same whether I decide to transfer 24 litres or squeeze out an extra litre? Its the same batch of beer ?

    IBU calculations inconsistent

Hi there, how recent were these changes as I have just copied a recipe from december 8th and IBU's differ from 76.29 to 72.23. Exactly the same recipe and hop additions 100% same recipe. how can that be ?

Brew Session water calcs gone haywire ?

Hi guys, Something is up with the water calculations in the brew session. I have checked my equipment profile and it is as per usual. My normal recipe calls for 37L and it is now saying 123.5 litres? cheers.

    Fermenter/Kettle and Efficiency

So my understanding is that batch size ending kettle amout is the same amount as fermentor with the difference being in the equipment profile ? cheers.

    Fermenter/Kettle and Efficiency

Hi KC, I understand what you say regarding the kettle/fermentor amounts will be the same but as I leave trub behind in the kett Hi KC, just trying to learn more about the equipment profile. If I was to choose target: fermentor and pour all contents from kettle into fermentor, would I then...

    Fermenter/Kettle and Efficiency

Ok thanks for that, I will use it from now on. One more thing, I have subtracted trub loss in equipment profile, when you mention starting and ending water is this in the waterprofile set up ? cheers.
