Don't forget to keep notes. Record amount of hops, day of brew you added them, in a bag or not - aroma/mouthfeel/tasting notes etc. Save some of the batch if possible. Do one or two things slightly different next brew and compare. Great thread you have started here.

What are you drinking right now?

Finished off the 2 litre bottle of Ginger Beer. Poured some of the sediment in, looked disgusting but actually improved it almost like there was fruit in there although not exactly sure which fruit. Now enjoying a gin and tonic with lime.

What are you drinking right now?

I hope all goes to plan for you. This could do with a bit longer for drinking on its own but has already improved in the time I opened the 2 litre PET bottle (did some in mini-kegs too). Guess that will be down to losing some of the co2, breathing a bit etc.

Welcome. An experienced brewer buddy and a few homebrew shops within striking distance - well you are off to a great start before you have even got stuck into the hobby there - nice! Nice also to read about your prepping. Oh if only I had done more of that could have saved some mishaps.

    I'm Signing Out.

Ben, I am gutted by your news, mate but respect what it takes to identify and deal with a problem this size. You have got your priorities in order and that's a good place from which to start the first day of the rest of your life. Put as much into your next hobby as you have into homebrewing and...

    Television Series

Similar story here and I haven't had a physical tv set for well over a decade. I have watched several of the first Stargate series for free on PLEX after paying for the lifetime deal on special offer a few years back which has so far given me nothing extra other than the option to pay for...

    Getting back to it...

Welcome Brian. I still haven't progressed beyond brewing extract kits in a fermenting bin, partly because some really good ones have been produced recently and partly due to currently being happy enough in my early days experimenting with dry hopping. But if I was you embarking on such a...

What are you drinking right now?

Woodforde's Wherry (English Amber Ale) from their own clone extract kit. ABV: 4.5% at 8 months. Dry hopped experiment with Amarillo, Cascade, Boadicea and Goldings. Achieved a subtle sour/tanginess on top I prefer to my previous effort which was actually closer to the original. Very refreshing...

What are you doing with homebrew today?

Racked the Chianti yesterday now clearing and got straight on with treating my water for a 2 gallon batch of British Golden Ale I brewed today - OG 1.043.

What are you drinking right now?

My first Belgian Dubbel at four and a half months, ABV: 7.5%. Nice and malty at room temperature but the sediment moved a lot (smoothly rather than in bits/lumps). I stuck some in the fridge and this time I get that dried dark fruit thang with the sediment almost completely staying home -...

What are you doing with homebrew today?

I have to say 2023 was probably my worst year in the twenty I have been in my current home. But last year continuing from 2022 was also one of the very best for brewing since I upped my game. That helped enormously. Wishing good health to you and yours in this tough time.

    What's your next brew

They are my preferred size atm. But I have a variety of bottles and kegs and like to compare also. Got a first cheapskate attempt at a Chianti just gone in the fermenter. But my next beer is scheduled to be a British Golden Ale that I had a few self created problems with last time. So it is on...

What are you drinking right now?

Two weeks old American Stout, ABV: 5%. Decent head on pour disappearing fast so topped up slowly to the brim. Tastes incredible for an early and very creamy texture. Should be a good one.
