    Any car people on here?

Well I bought a car today. That process was excruciating and I hated it lol but I now own a 2021 Nissan Rogue. Also test drove a RAV4, but the Rogue had more interior features and I spend 75% of my week driving, so comfort is more important to me. For better or for worse it's mine now :D

What are you drinking right now?

Earl Grey cream porter. Not too sweet, not too floral. Pretty pleased with this as a first attempt at a brand new concept for a recipe (for me at least)

    Any car people on here?

Thanks, Don. That's in line with what I've been reading. My mechanic told me stick to Toyota or Honda unless it's a truck. Those newer Ford Mavericks look pretty cool :D (2022 models that still had a 2.5L 4 cyl engine. The new turbocharged 3 cylinder engines are just ridiculous)

    Any car people on here?

Just found out that my car of the last 10 years needs to be put out to pasture and replaced  so now I'm shopping for cars. A new car gets me a better interest rate on the loan, but a much higher yearly property tax. I'd like it to last at least 6 years, so something below 50,000 miles...

    Any car people on here?

I like cars, but haven't owned any nice ones. I've watched way more Top Gear than I'd care to admit...

    Ginger "beer" help wanted

Campden isn't just for treating water. It's used by wine makers for the purpose I stated above

    Television Series

I highly recommend the Fallout show on prime. I've been playing the video games for years but my partner also enjoyed the show without any context of the lore

What are you doing with homebrew today?

You could try spraying sanitizer or soapy water on your gas connections. If there's a leak you should see bubbling liquid at the source of the leak. My other thought is to re-lube all rubber gaskets and connections with food safe lubricant. I buy keg lube from the LHBS, but if you can't have...

    Ginger "beer" help wanted

I wonder if you could add campden tablets when you hit your preferred final gravity? The potassium/sodium metabisulfite should kill yeast activity.

What are you drinking right now?

2nd attempt at a low(er) abv large batch of cider. It's quite nice! Especially since I used grocery brand apple juice on sale :D

What are you drinking right now?

West Coast pilsner from a Virginia brewery that's new to me (Vibrissa out of Front Royal). Hopped with Citra and Mosaic, delicious.

What are you drinking right now?

Drank all of my pale ale and earl grey porter doesn't sound good with bruschetta and chicken wings (wings are cooking as we speak, and the bread is waiting to be toasted)

What did you get delivered today

An update after trying this new method for the first time: I ran cold tap water through the immersion chiller until it reached 90' F (pitch temp is 75'F for the Lutra kveik I'm repitching). Then I added a gallon of ice to the water and the pump sent this colder water through the chiller. It took...

What are you doing with homebrew today?

Using up some old hops (northern brewer and cashmere) in a pale ale brew today, and testing out my new gear

What are you drinking right now?

Dead Guy by Rogue is my dad's favorite beer lol :)

    2024 Second Quarter Brew

80 IBUs will be very bitter. If you want to avoid that, I would cut the Galena in half at the FWH. Everything else looks good to me

What are you drinking right now?

Snail House pours foamy toppers :D

    Recipe for left over hops

If you want an IPA, shoot for 50-70 IBUs. If you want a pale ale aim for 35-50 IBUs I would use your Chinook for bittering, and then Cascade and Amarillo for late boil and dry hops. You can also use 100% pale ale malt or split it with regular 2 row or pilsner

Good luck with everything, Ben. You'll be missed around here.

What are you drinking right now?

The previous version of this recipe didn't have wheat and had the same issues, so *shrug* I don't know where it's coming from lol I'll keep tweaking. And I always use irish moss in the boil (same active ingredient as whirl floc)
