    Crushed grain fridge storage

I crushed 13# of grain for a brew....into a brown paper bag...rolled and stapled the top of bag...put bag in kegerator. Things came up and 3 weeks later that bag is still there, waiting.... When I get back home should brew with it, or call it a loss. ??

    head/head retention

I started using it after hearing some DME brands have PGA in it. Propylene glycol alginate is used in many of the BMC beers to help their low hopped thin beer have head retention. I can't say with certainty that there is PGA in the DME I have, it may just be the CaraPils in it like you suggest...

    head/head retention

I have been adding a 1/2# of light dme to my recipes lately for head retention, with great results. I have tried carapils and wheat in the past, but I like the DME. What say you?

    Running Crown Moulding

When you guys run crown, do you cope your inside corners, or just 45 it. I've been coping all my life, and these days most jobs spec out MDF, which is cuts like hot butter with my coping saw. I usually end up caulking my insides anyways, so why not just 45 the inside corners with fingerjoint...

    So damn cold

The weather has me a bit bummed out today. I had two brews planned today, (well, a mead and a brew). I have my fermenters clean, my ingredients ready. Went to lhbs to get my yeast packs to make starters yesterday, snow shut er' down. Went to whole foods to get some Narwhal, snow shut er' down. I...

What do you guys think of The FastRack?

My .02 I think it looks like a waste of money and more plastic crap laying around the mancave. It's a good idea, and if I had them I would use them. My lhbs has plenty of empty 24x12oz and 12x22 oz cardboard boxes. Just put your bottles in upside down, now you have a free fastrack! Put some wax...

    Dumped My Coopers Beer Kit

Most of the brewing problems you have described, can be easily avoided through proper beard growth.

    FG= 1.002?

That is awesome, congrats! Personally, I love low f.g. beers.

    Best and most affordable refractometer?

A wine thief is awesome and a must have, but nothing can really replace the convenience of a refractometer on brew day, for mash, run off and boil measurements. (must and cider too!) I like anything that Hanna Instruments manufactures.

Bottling Belgian Ales like the Belgians do

Yep. Easy peasy, not much more effort than crown caps. You need a floor corker to push the cork in, then just hand twist the cage. (My experience is with the corona capper\corker, and real corks.(as opposed to the plastic))

    Redneck Apple Cider

Yep. The beer priming calculator works for cider. Your carbing plan looks spot on.

    Style guidelines on A.Ale

A follow up just for shits and grins- I ended up entering this beer as an American Ale…and it kind of bombed. It scored on the high side of "good" but the worst of my 3 entries. I did not mention the orange peel as advised, and it's very interesting what was perceived. All four judges commented...

    HUB IPA

Will you please brew this already!!!! I want to give it a go but I need a "this tastes just like HUB" post from you first. What I really really want is a recipe to the "Abominable winter ale" from hub....best seasonle I had this year, and from a can none the less. :D

    Dry Hop sanitation issues

Great post explanation LarryBrewer. Also, yeast autolysis will continue at cold crash temperatures, invariably kicking up small amounts of viable yeast. It takes very little yeast to eat the small amount of sugars needed to produce a few volumes of co2. Cheers to Beers!

    Dry Hop sanitation issues

That's a brew myth, although it can take a bit longer to bottle carb.

    Yeast Nutrient

 You can make yeast starters without a stir plate or an erlenmeyer flask. You have to use a bit more volume, and wait a bit longer, but thats what planning and decanting are for.

    Dry Hop sanitation issues

I dry hop with whole hops for 2 weeks, the last 5 or so days are part of a cold crash to make the hops sink to the bottom. I'm curious...If you dry hop in the primary, why do you rack to a secondary? (If your secondary is the keg, enough said) I've taken to dry hopping in the primary as well...

    Straining Wort

I would give the opposing recommendation regarding the primary. During the 'vigorous fermentation', the yeast produce byproducts that can contribute to off-flavors and instability in the beer. After fermentation is complete, the yeast clean up these byproducts. If you rack off of the yeast cake...
