Kombucha

I think you can just grow it from a bottle of non pasteurized plain kombucha with tea and sugar (like you'd make yogurth from one of the shop). So you don't rely on someone to give you a SCOBY but you just grow your own
Thank you.
Problem is that they don't sell kombucha here.
At least I have never seen it, but am going to look in the specialty shops

My wife makes kombucha on a regular basis. She uses different teas and different types of fruit and sugars. I have to admit, that SCOBY thing really looks like it will jump out of the fermenter and attack you.

Could use the Godzilla, 50s or 80s horror concept about chemicals or radiation mutating a living organism. If using Godzilla as a model, you can BS around for 70 minutes killing things until you finally realize there is an anti-Scoby machine.
Or, wouldn't a Chopping Mall like, mutant Scoby turned into a mechanical killer be nice?
I obviously watch waaay too many of these things on Amazon LOL.

It could mutate into a beer maybe. Or some Booch.

I keep thinking of The Blob.

This is funn, not funny- but I used to keep my SCOBY hotel in the office on a shelf. My husband convinced my grandson (he was about 4) that it was alive (well, it is) and when not looking it would come out of the jar and to watch out. He would come sit at my desk to play a game on my computer and steal side looks at the vessel to ensure it wasn't coming out. Poor kid.

Between that and the other things, we probably have to foot the bill for his eventual therapy.
