Here here! I tried to brew a Lawnmower Ale last summer specifically to get that waft of what my lizard brain recalls of the Natie Boh, Schmitz and Schlitz aroma of yesteryear but it wasn't there in the Hallertau and Saaz I used...maybe the corn has more to do with it since I kinda get it with...

    Show me your gardening Progress

Looking pretty good given the late start this year but I had a moment of garden envy when a coworker in Georgia told me they planned on canning some tomatoes this weekend....I'm looking forward to how these 2 containers do. They are a couple of dwarf Uluru Ochre plants I got at the Carroll...

    Truly Non-Alcoholic Beer Question

Make some root beer...that's what my dad and I did. It was NA and boy was it carbonated! We used recycled 32 oz soda bottles with screw on caps ....we had a 25% bottle bomb possibly! I don't think the Hires extract we used is still available but I've seen others out there.

Lol...don't get me started on Prohibition! You think I have a lot to say on AI?

    Asking AI....

But is Meg for real? A couple of things...it's called "Artificial Intelligence" for a very good reason and yes it has its place. I'm a living example of its use in medical applications and there are indeed some dummied down mundane uses for it but even those are vilified by any poor customer...

    Asking AI....

Agreed @Mont Y. Märzen "novelty parlor tricks"! I think most of us see what we put into a glass as a form of art and what we are part of is a craft and a set of skills that stands on the shoulders of over 10,000 years of other humans tinkering around with water, something that ferments and...

    Glass type for beer

Too early for a beer so here's an empty glass which is one of the last two that used to be my folks. I'm going to guess these are somewhere in the neighborhood of 70 years old. I get a kick out the fact that you can't put a whole 12 ounces into it which always makes me feel like I'm getting...

Poll: using a blow off tube

Yeah same here..my guidelines are malt and headspace. My dark brews have a propensity to super krausen so I'll lot to just drop the blow off tube right into a bucket and not use a fermenter bulb at all.

    The stirrer 2000!

Are you making the starter with a lot of nutrient and low gravity or just a traditional 1040 wort?

What are you doing with homebrew today?

Bottling night for the Albany ale...and here's to happy mistakes... forgetting to add the sugar had my abv down a little..I finished at 7.2 and without the sugar, it didn't have a dry finish but instead, a full bodied stonefruit and grape finish.

    What’s for dinner?

oh yeah with the chicken soup. Wifey uses 3 carcasses for the best chicken stock that we freeze and put in anything that calls for it. Wait a minute...stock...broth...soup?

    measuring pH

I tried a cheap one from Amazon then went back to my paper strips. If they worked for scientists 50 years ago, they'll still work today.

    Glass type for beer

Glass 2.. Dead sexy. Glass 1...Dead practical Just make sure it's a proper pint of whatever your country standard is and not one of those 12 oz. pints!

Scorch or worse! Jeez...we don't want to see those headlines in the newsfeed..."Florida Man burns down house while brewing beer"! It'll just make all of us look a little eccentric.....or worse! 8^)
