    Snowpocalyse!

here it is pretty much the same, only 2°C instead of 22

    Bottle conditioning timeline.

Have opinions :) Obviously subjective, so ymmv, but I bottle almost exclusively and have never had a bottle <4 weeks that I would consider "mature". 4-6 weeks is "fresh" and the flavor/aroma is still developing, but byandlarge things should be about where I want them. Anything before that I...

    Faxe Festbock

I will be in Denmark for 3 weeks this summer and kinda keen to try some Faxe brews that I am not familiar with (not too hopeful, as what I am familiar with isn't all that great, but they do have an IPA....fwiw) ...I did find this though (a positive, but in German) review from back in 2006, but...

What video games are you playing lately?

Bit late to the game, but finally started RDR2 a few months ago. Absolutely love it! I haven't done much of the story line, but just hunting animals to collect stuff for crafting is more than enough to keep me interested for weeks at a time. As a PC owner, it is a shame that I will never get to...

    I'm Signing Out.

I just stumbled upon this thread and just wanted to express my gratitude at not only such a positive supportive community, but also someone who has been self-aware enough to recognize what is good/bad for themselves and their family. @GFHomebrew, respect!

    Random Photos.

...actually brewing related, but just figured I would post here as a "hey, look at this" fwiw, anyone who said CaraAroma is good for a red color is absolutely correct! Taste-wise I will be dialing it back bit next time, but my goal of a dark red beer has been achieved 110% There is also...

    A crazy pepper beer idea!

I like some spice and while feeling adventurous many many years ago, I brewed bottled 2 chili beers. The first was great, the second not so... All I did was add a chili (long, thin, asian, ...?) to each bottle, cap, mature and drink. Not really brewing per se, but if you get the right beer...

    Last Brew of 2023

Squeezed in a last SMASH Pils on the 20th. I was hoping to do a decoction mash for the first time ever, but work got in the way. :( By the time I was out of my (virtual) meeting it was time to läuter... At least I know, even though the beer might not be different, it will be drinkable. :p

    Gyle bottle priming

Did that a couple of times too. I dissolved and boiled it before adding to the bottling bucket. Works fine, but again, noticed no difference in taste compared to table sugar, which is easily 10x cheaper.

    Gyle bottle priming

Definitely freeze it! I did just that for a while (pet bottles in the freezer), because it made for "reinheitsgebot" adherent beer, and had absolutely no troubles with in going bad, but... ...then I just couldn't be bothered any more. There is imo absolutely no difference in taste in gyle vs...

    Mini Decoction!?

Thanks for your replies! I have an ale lined up for as long as the basement is still warm enough, but with luck and some planning, I should have a non-decoction pils bottled by the end of the year. So I will be back by Dec / Jan with an update on my decoction experiment. :)

    Mini Decoction!?

yeah, that is what I am figuring too, but just for shits and giggles, I am planning on a pils with some cara malt and pils with decoction to compare the results. Guess I am just trying to "forward guess" if I need to adjust my malt bill accordingly.

    Mini Decoction!?

Probably stupid questions, but I haven't found definitive answers yet and figured you all might have some answers based on experience for me. :) 1) Is a "mini" decoction worth trying? I generally have a 25-27ish liter mash (20-21 liter H2O + 5-6kg malt), but only a 20l pot + camp stove to give a...

    sugars differ?

Not 100% sure, but I think turnip vs beet is just a difference in translation. Here in Germany, we have primarily beet sugar and I would be extremely surprised if the sugar in Denmark is any different. As I understand it (and Sandy Feet points out), "table sugar" can be made from either cane or...

    Dealing with hot weather

...where there are something called "seasons". :p Completely unrelated to beer, but it has been really cool to experience what different places have for seasons... Where I grew up in northern NY, there was summer, fall, winter and mud In Christchurch NZ it was summer, not-summer and lambing...
