Kettle and Fermenter Volume Calibration Markings

Yep. The beer just hangs in the air. LOL

Kettle and Fermenter Volume Calibration Markings

Thanks all! Agree....I am not brewing specifically to the volume per se but the equipment profile and thus recipes are built on assumptions that I would like to be able to validate with some accuracy. In theory, the more I can measure with confidence, the less "why did that happen?". :) I...

Kettle and Fermenter Volume Calibration Markings

That's what I'm talkin' about!!!!! LOL. Good advice. I am just hoping to get PreB, PostB and Fermenter volumes to be a little more accurate.

Kettle and Fermenter Volume Calibration Markings

As you'd expect both my SS Brewtech kettle and fermenter have gallon and liter markings. I work in gallons. My question is how do you dial in volumes using these markings. Once you have wort you can't really move the stuff from one measuring vessel to another without risk of spillage or...

What are you drinking right now?

I said the same yesterday. Lots of overplayed drama in the sport.

    Do You Update Recipes?

This may sound like a stupid question but I am ok with that. Do you all update your recipes with actual result once the beer is packaged? I have never done that in part because my results are not always on target and I don't want to lead others astray! :)

    Mash Efficiency

Yikes indeed. North FL is HUMID here this time of year. I spent several weeks out on Wassaw Island during the summer so I feel your pain

    Mash Efficiency

Thanks everyone. Super helpful. Connecting some of these dots is what I was missing. Leaning too much on other's recipes seems to be much of the issue. I have the beer styles judges book and will look to brew to the style and use the software to get me there. Seems like a 60 min mash should...

    Mash Efficiency

Ok, perhaps I am over thinking (reading too much internet) this. Should I stop the mash when a) 60 mins is up, b) a refractometer show I hit numbers, c) when iodine test show conversion is complete? I am now thinking that the answer is "b" when I hit the numbers. In theory I could have maybe...

    Mash Efficiency

So today I brewed a pilsner (my first). Been brewing off and on, extract and all grain BIAB for years but had not really been overly concerned about the numbers. HOWEVER, now that I am retired I have been trying to add a bit more science to the brew. So again, today I brewed a pilsner....a...
