You know they are now really cheap on Amazon and have dual scales... Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LW2ZU6R
There are many others. This is one I bought and can say it is really close to my 8.5-16 brix hydrometer. Easily adjustable.
I notice on the recipes I created and do a search, that it shows up that it has been brewed 0 times. Nearly all of my recipes have been brewed at least one time, and sometimes 2 times. Is there a way to edit this? Right now Jenewien's Munich Dunkel 5 shows Brew Count: 0 Since it finished...
Yesterday I was searching for info on this from another forum post and stumbled across a very well said post by a SUPER MODERATOR at a beverage - restaurant etc forum and he had this to say, which I quote from him directly as otherwise I'd write it down and repeat it.. LOL " All I've found on...
I didn't know who I might send this to, or what section of the forum, so posting it here. Move if needed or sticky, or modify.
It is what we use at the winery when we want to raise the Brix of grape juice up to a certain level. It is not in S.G. so you would need to go to the Brix to SG...
Well, talked with owner John tonight and ordered one. Will give it a good going over when it gets here. One thing John mentioned (owner) is that it is plastic, and as such is easy to just drill a hole in the lid for intake and output of vinyl tubing and thread the tubes in there to connect to...
I was impressed! So I bought 2 packages at Norther Brewers. Maybe try mixing it in with S-23 Lager yeast to create a hybrid Lager yeast that works well at elevated temps. Necessity is the mother of invention. Experimentation will either prove it works or it does not work. ;)
Watching a conical fermentor on youtube made me think..... of those that have a large opening, like the Ss Brewtech Chronical, it looks like you could drop in a SS cooling coil into the pitched wort, run the water tubes out the top where the 1 1/2" Tri-Clover fitting is in the center of that...
Y'all know that there are small heating pads at Walmart you can place close to the fermenter? Too cool a temp will hibernate some yeasts. They need to work in a certain temperature range "optimal" comes to mind.
What are the opinions of conical fermenters, and this one is the newest model the 6.5 gallon XE model with improvements over earlier models. https://www.minibrew.com/products/6-5x-gallon-conical-fermenter?variant=25674595014
Just wondering about 2 things. Is conical a good choice?
2. If you...
Agreed! Either this rectangular Mash Tun works so much better or I added too much water. All I know is it drained beautifully, and the amount of depth of wet grain was easy to add sprinkled water to. with the 3/4" SS drain "tube" that was 18" long seemed to be extra nice, as it went into a...
Recipe link is here: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/view/569726/vern-s-munich-dunkel-ii I was shooting for about 3 1/2 gallons of kettle volume, but ended up with 5 gallons, and I dumped out some of the lower part of the runoff from my home made mash tun. I used 3.3- 3.5...
Yea, finished up then. Started WAY too late in the the evening. Also my stove is propane kitchen stove and it takes a while to get 3 gallons up to a boil. Live and learn.
