I brewed a 5.7 gallon batch (fermenter volume) of 1.070 and will be adding 0.5 gallons of cherry juice. I will need to take a hydrometer reading of the juice but let's say its 1.050. Am I thinking about this correctly?

Wort: 70 gravity points x 5.7 gallons = 399 gravity points
Juice: 50 gravity points x 0.5 gallons = 25 gravity points

Total: 424 gravity points / 6.2 gallons = 68.39 gravity points

So the actual OG of the beer + juice = 1.068?

Points are points and volume is volume. Looks good to me.

That has your juice at 1.100? Are you using concentrate? If that's true, your math is correct.

50 gravity points provided by 1/2 gallon is 100 gravity points per gallon, or 1.100.

But he only added 25 points for the 1/2 gallon of juice.

Yet another example of Maltzheimers?

I assume Maltsheimers is an early stage of Craft Disease. (CRAFT = can't remember a freaking thing)

Oh no! I’m already in the second phase. o_O

Added the juice this morning. The gravity of the juice was actually 1.084 so I got an unexpected boost in overall OG.

So just to be clear...
Maltsheimers, then CRS, and then finally CRAFT?
Does that sound about right?

That’s how I see it @Craigerrr, but then again, I’m in at least one of those phases, so I may not be as capabale of diagnosing. o_O
