Hey all,

I just made a Kolsch for the first time and it tastes good, but cloudy. I recently heard about fining agents and two have been mentioned.

Which is better for extract beer kits whirlflock or Bio fine?

cheers,
john

I'm partial to Whirlfloc. If Bio Fine is a carrageenan based product, they work the same - use what's cheaper.

Knox unflavoured gelatin works a treat too. But yeah just grab whatever is cheap. Or leave it in the cold for 2 months.

Adding to Hawkbox's post: Gelatin works if the beer is cold post-fermentation. I'm assuming from the products you named you are fining on the hot side. Don't use gelatin there.

True yes, though when he said extract I assumed he wasn't boiling that long.
