Turned out darker that theorised?

95 % pale malt at 3 SRM / 2.5 L
5 % carafa 1 at 460 SRM / 340 L
Mash thicknes 2,5
Mash time 70 mins at 152F / 67C
Boiltime 60 mins

... should turn out aroung 18 SRM according to the recipe builder, but was closer to 30. Thoughts on why?

your carafa must be a little darker.

Packet says 340 L. Herhaps I should contact the shop where I bought it ...
all i think is a 340L malt at 5% will do a good job darkening you beer. i used 1.5% of chocolate a little darker lovibond and my SRM was pretty brownish.

well you know for next brew to cut it back by half or more
