Happy Independence Day

My grandparents will celebrate their 66th wedding anniversary tonight and my grandma will be 86 tomorrow. They live outside of town really outside of town, so we have been doing a cookout and fireworks for the last 15 years. Nice way to celebrate the holiday.

Love it!

I’m in Coeur d’elaine having breakfast cause my friend crashed his bike in Sandpoint on Wednesday and we’re working out how to get him home. American cities are weirdly spread out. And they have kangaroo steaks?!

Sad news about your friend, but at least he picked a beautiful place to spill

Fiancé booked us a cabin up near the West Virginia/Virginia border. The woods are absolutely gorgeous. It's still hot, but the humidity is so much more bearable (and the cabin has central air). We brought enough groceries (and beer) that we won't need to leave until we check out. Not a bad holiday/birthday weekend

That's rough @Hawkbox looks like it was a long drive for you to get there, or did you fly?

We drove. I rented a U-haul at 7am Thursday morning and started driving. We got his bike and visited with him, he's pretty busted up but we got a case manager from the hospital on his transit home so they're doing everything through insurance and lining up a hospital to hospital transfer for him.

Which is really good cause he can't stand on his own, he's got at least 8 weeks of rehab in my opinion in front of him but nothing requiring surgery. My buddy from Calgary and I did the drive down, 23ish hours of driving in a little over 2 days is exhausting.

This is 4 days apart.

I wish him a great and quick recovery.

Appreciate it. Thankfully they have a flight booked this morning to send him back to Edmonton, they're sending a medical attendant with him so hopefully it all works out. He's supposed to arrive at 10pm so it's going to be a long day for him but at least one of us will be around to pick him up.

I took a spill in ’07 at about 35mph; tank slapper... at 35!!! got spit off, flailed into the pavement and rolled to a standing position of all things. I got help uprighting the bike and rode it home, then when the adrenaline wore off, had to get a ride to the hospital. It was only 2.5 miles home, but by the time I got there, the pain hit and I couldn’t put the kickstand down for probably 10 minutes. My suit got perforated a couple places from the foot pegs. my helmet took a shot to the chin on the left side and the flailing scuffed up my gloves pretty good, and left me with contusion on one hand.
I’ve worn race gloves ever since when I ride.

I wish your friend a speedy and full recovery.

Yellow Dog shirt!

At least he is being taken care of, and has friends like you.

He's back in Edmonton at least, which is a start. That dog is Clara cause my wife ordered that shirt for him and she does weird things sometimes.
