I've so far only brewed 100% extract and fancy having a go at a partial mash. Does anyone have any easy recipes for a beginner? Maybe an IPA?

I'd go extract/steep. About a 1.055 wort (no starter required), a pound of Crystal 60 (others may recommend a different steeping grain), hop it to about 40 IBUs of Cascade, split evenly between 60, 30 and 0 minutes (meaning you'll halve the IBUs and put them at 60 and 30 mins). Ferment it with a clean yeast and you have yourself a fine pale ale.

(sometimes known as a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale clone)

That's also not a bad idea. My first non extract only batch was LME and steeping grains.

US-05 yeast would be a good choice, and there isno need to oxygenate the wort if the OG is 1060, or less.

5kg of malt for a partial mash? Also that looks like the only fermentable. Am I confused about what a partial mash is? I imagined some mashing that was suplimented with some extract or other fermentable.

How much grain can you mash, in a grainbag or two or whatever you plan on using to hold the mash?
