Ah, but keg lube is not a food. It does not ho rancid. So canola (for example) is not a good substitute.
Then again, neither is axle grease.

Precisely. "Petrol based lubricant". Meaning not from plants. Even after millions and millions of years in the ground, it still doesn't go rancid.

A bit of Dawn and a good rinse will work just fine. The good old blue stuff is even perfectly fine.
Think about it, most brewers are really good cleaners and that goes with rinsing as well
Then at minimum, we toss it into an acid bath before assembling as well.
I doubt any residue from the soap is left.
I use it daily for general cleaning without issues.
