Inventory linked to recipe

This may have already been answered. I just started using the "My Inventory" feature that is pretty cool to have in the same space as my recipes. Should the inventory be linked to the recipe/brew session to bring down the inventory as you use it? I only say "should" because I may be doing something wrong that is preventing this linkage.

Create a snapshot when you do a brew session and click the button to deduct

i think this happens automatically when you start a brew session, or you are prompted at that time. can't recall
