Brew Day
Per the gravity, there was a lack of efficiency. Could be that the volume of water during the mash was 6 gallons. This may have been too much, but was worried that there wasn’t enough space for the grains. There was 4 1/2 gallons pre-boil. This may have been too much. Regardless, I didn’t want the gravity to be that high.
Added a couple handfuls of rice hulls to the mash to assist with a stuck sparge. But since the mash volume was so high there wasn’t a sparge.
Add a 1/4 tsp of yeast nutrient and a whirlfloc tablet at the 10 min left mark
Day 12
Added 2 oz each of Simcoe and Cascade to secondary. Placed on ground. Will leave for 7 days then bottle.
Day 19
Total bottles:
355ml - 11
473ml - 7
650ml - 2
Used 70g of dextrose sugar for bottling 3 gallons.
For some reason this yeast did not chew through this wort. The final gravity was off by almost 0.010 - which is pretty significant. |
