Replaced my tank-type hot water heater with a tankless. I’d hope to install it and do most of the piping before disconnecting the tank, but the tank was positioned 1” too close… so an 8-hour day later, I hot my hot water back.

The old tank had a date of 2010, so after 15 years I figured I’d gotten what I could get from it. It might’ve hone another year or more, but I was uncomfortable with the risk.

Gas, water and venting all needed to be done. Glad I learned how years ago.

I DIY'd a 50 gallon vented gas water heater last fall. Damn that thing was heavy! I looked into tankless and, other than being very expensive, it had more regular maintenance requirements.
