Ok smarter than me types and engineers....what is it that's going on when my yeast appears to be sticking to the sides of my bottles?

Like finished beer bottles?

How clear is it when you bottle it?

Yup, finished beer put into bottles for conditioning. I cold crashed this batch so yeah, it was dropped

Weird, never seen that

Which part of the bottle? I've had some residue in the neck before

Mid to Lower part of the sides, never on the neck.

Bottle prime?
Secondary fermentation in the bottle could cause yeast to stick to the side
I see this in my fermenter from time to time where it settles on the sides instead of all on the bottom.

So bottle conditioning is a fermentation of the priming sugar that creates carbonation...ok...I'll buy that!

This yeast has flocked but its kinda stuck to the sides of the fermentor.

S-189 SWISS LAGER YEAST FERMENTIS.

Looks pretty normal to me...

I completely agree Nosy...but what's doing it? Hydrostatic pressure,? Some other charge attraction? What is it that is keeping them from floculating to the bottom but sticking to the sides?

The yeast floats and sticks to the side of the fermentor. That's all the "braunhefe", hop resins and other undesirable gunk, it floats on the krauesen and sticks to the side.

This one has done thus more than normal I remember the neighbour the other night when I showed her going eww what's all them floaties yeast rafts I replied that's what ferments beer:D!

Anyhow case in point is all I was showing;);)

Have you poured a bottle yet? I bet your beer will be quite cloudy. Wondering if after pouring, there is residue left on the sides of the bottle?
