Post-gravity reading CO2 purge prior to lagering?

Mark, just occurred to me. I removed 3 jars of trub at the outset but still have more to go. In your lagering experience, should I try to get the rest of what's settled out of there before I start to cool it down?

Post-gravity reading CO2 purge prior to lagering?

Hope this finds everyone safe, fed and healthy. I need some process advice. I'm using a lager yeast (Imperial Global) in a Baltic Porter, fermenting at 53º and now at nearly 4 weeks. It was a good-looking fermentation. Now, I want to take gravity readings to be sure it's at my target before I...

Thanks much. I'll figure it out. Meanwhile ... the beer has been 3 weeks in the bottle and it tastes pretty nice - and as expected.

Ok, got it. So since I started with 5.5 gal water but ended up with 3.2 after cooling and an initial trub dump, how should I have entered my water levels? Should I have entered "kettle" and measured immediately after whirlpooling? After cooling? Just trying to get this right. Thanks much.

Yooper, thanks. My issue may simply be unfamiliarity with the BF software + still learning the ropes. The recipe, which I fiddled with a bit, is a black IPA w/a calculated OG of 1.066, a final of 1.014. It called for me to start w/5.5 gallons, steep my milled specialty grains for 15 minutes, let...

Thanks for the suggestion/thoughts. Selected both steeping grains as late additions, but no change in OG/SG. FWIW, here's the link to the full recipe, in numbers and notes: https://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/edit/918231

New member here. I've entered my most recent recipe, now bottled, but am coming up with much higher OG/SG than I'm supposed to have. I'm thinking it's because I can't figure out if there's a way to enter my two 12-oz BIAG steeping grains in a way that differentiates them from my main...

    Hello fellow brewers

Hello, folks! I've been an AHA member for a couple of years but after test-driving Brewer's Friend (and using the recipe builder as a guest), I'm coming on board. I brew for fun and try to do it right, but not as often as some folks - maybe 7, 8 batches a year. Started with a couple of kits back...
