    Buck You IPA

I wasn't sure what his plan was for last night, so I just guessed a batch sparge. When I dropped off the grain bill at 6pm, he was set up in the cooler Mash Tun. This would then go as I designed it with a single batch sparge. He may do better on efficiency, but that's fine. He had trouble...

    Ginger "beer" help wanted

Shock the yeast, yes, but it won't kill them. In a small period of time, they'll get busy again. Now if you add it with sorbate, that's a different story. ;)

What IPA to brew for spring?

This ^ grain bill @ 1.070 doesn't seem like a compromise to me. That's going to be pretty malty. At least for me. Maybe cut the GP 50% with Pils?

Starters and how it affects final beer colour.

Sure is, but is the work and time worth it? Plus the cost of the DME and then the sanitation questions that go along with it? The only time I might do it is if I'm in a pinch and can't get enough of a particular strain. Also, the way dry yeast is put to bed now, they don't recommend...

Starters and how it affects final beer colour.

Are you brewing all grain? If so you could save some of the wort from a prior batch and just freeze it until you're ready for the next starter. If you're brewing extract with steeping grains, then you could just use a little bit of the extract from the kit to make the starter. Honestly, I just...

    Keg lube removal

A bit of Dawn and a good rinse will work just fine. The good old blue stuff is even perfectly fine. Think about it, most brewers are really good cleaners and that goes with rinsing as well Then at minimum, we toss it into an acid bath before assembling as well. I doubt any residue from the...

    mold on Starsan bucket!

The lid was dirty. It was stored in a dark cool place. Mold is in the air, so mold spores were in the unfilled air portion of the bucket and mold grew on the dirt. Going forward, clean everything better and either put it away dry, or wet it with Star San before closing it up. The Star San...

First Time Brewing, I accidentally ordered all my grains in the same bag.

I'd just brew it as you have it. Only increase your mash time to help in converting the high percentage of flaked products. I'd go at least 90 minutes and up to 2 hours. It'll make beer and it'll be fine. RDWHAHB
