    Secondary headspace

I don't use secondary fermentation often, but when I do it isn't as active as the primary. I haven't purged the vessel with CO2 to remove the oxygen. So far, I haven't run into any problems. My beer is a little clearer as it works on itself.

    Kegging Question

I just recently completed my keezer project. I pieced my system together using Kegconnection.com, Ebay, Northern Brewer, Amazon and my local Lowes store. I attached a photo (I hope it uploads). My LBHS does bottle exchanges for $30 for 5# bottle and if you don't have one to exchange then they...

    Diy temp control project

Pretty technically advanced. Very interesting. I have a mini fridge converted to a fermentation chamber with the use of an Inkbird ITC308 2 stage temp control and a Lasko personal ceramic heater. Maintains optimal temps with a +/- 3 degree window. My next mod is to add a frame to increase...

    Researching transitioning to Keg

Hey Brewers, I am thinking about transitioning from bottles to kegs sometime this year. I was wondering if there are any lessons learned from others who have done the transition. What exactly would I need? I've looked at some sites for keg kits, but I'm not really interested in paying the $300+...

    Amateur

I've read in several articles that the active fermentation process generates heat. The amount of heat generated can be anywhere from 5 to 10 degrees. I'm not a physics scientist by no means, but my basic physics knowledge and some research I've done indicates 8 BTUs is needed to change the...

Wort Transfer into Separate Fermenting Containers

You know, I was thinking about mixing them back together, but you bring up a good testing point. I could definitely see if they taste different...not sure I'll know what the difference is the except size of the container.

Challenging the Melon & Satisfy the Taste Buds

Good day all, I have been brewing since Dec 2015 with a starter kit I got for Christmas. I have brewed less than 10 batches with a few good tasting ones and some not so good tasting ones. Most of my batches are extract kits until the last one where I used a recipe off the Brewer's Friend...

Wort Transfer into Separate Fermenting Containers

Looking for a sanity check on my next brew day. I'm a newbie and have brewed less than 10 batches and have really only had 3 batches that tasted good. So, I'm still working on it. I have a mini fridge that I converted with a temperature control to maintain a set fermentation temperature...
