    Q4 2022 Brewersfriend Quarterly Brew

Got mine bottled tonight. OG was 1.057 and FG was 1.012. That gives it three weeks and I will actually get to try it this quarter. Lots of fun with this beer. Tastes great uncarbonated so I am excited to see how it comes out.

Brewer's Friend: Converting to metric and scaling up

Fix beer that is too light.

My understanding is that mashing at a higher temperature range results in sugars that are more complex and harder for yeast to break down. So yes, this should result in a higher FG at the end of fermentation.

Fix beer that is too light.

Have you checked your tilt in water? I drop mine in distilled water about every other batch to do a quick check. They are normally spot on in water. I did the calibration on one that was reading a little off. I agree with @Minbari , mine have never really been off by more than a few points.

What did you get delivered today

Bottle supply was getting low, took advantage of Black Friday deals and ordered 20 cases of bottles and UPS driver brought them today. Driver is a craft beer guy and loves getting samples of brews that I make. Would put a picture up but they are just bottles, lots of bottles.

Fix beer that is too light.

Lots of great input already. The only thing I will add is that mashing at a higher temperature results in a less fermentable wort. All this really means is you have less sugars to ferment. Aside from a bit of dry hopping, just ferment out and taste. Take notes, correct, and do it again. My...

What are you drinking right now?

A lot of the beers I brew in the fall are specifically for Christmas gifts, so I try and change it up every year. The OG on this one was a few points lower than expected. Taste amazing.
