Good point and yes, I got one runing like that, but on it's own temp control.
It got my oxebar kegs, beer & some other stuff in it.
It's just that I loose things in a chest fridge/freezer and it's not handy for jars, sauces, bottles etc.
I always wondered why some beers got such a bad rep!
Besides the above, lots of the "local" beers are in returnable, quite heavy brown bottles which seem less prone to "skunking" than the green ones
I run totally of grid, with a 5 kva system.
So I can run the 220 on that (8.5 kva lithium ion battery)
The 12 volt system is older, from when I was building. It got a new 100 ah lithium ferro battery. It runs a 12 volt chest freezer/fridge. Battery is not going below 13.2 volt on this set up...
My saison
And besides being very tasty, it's the clearest beer I've made so far.
I could see the pink elephants on the back of the glass :)
It's a time thing ...
That makes sense.
Cost is the same (2nd hand, I can just choose)
I'll check energy/efficiency rating.
I thought maybe the 12 volt one will be better insulated or maybe the compressor has a longer (or shorter) lifespan
I need to decide between 2 fridges.
It will be for general use and my old one will become my fermentation fridge.
The difference between them:
1 is a 220 volt fridge, the other a 12 volt fridge
I run a small 12 volt set up with chest fridge/freezer, 100 ah lithium ferro battery, 225 watt in...
I use river water.
One day I will get around adding chemicals to it.
You can get a cheapish set with paper strips to test the water. Generally rain water should not contain much and I would just use it and consider it "nutrient less"
Those are just weird temps
25 at nght 35 + daytime (oC) is easy.
Full on kveik Voss temps.
I've organised another fridge and then my old one gets promoted (demoted) to ferm fridge. But it will take a while till I get the new 2nd hand one here.
I'm a little stuck
Currenty no temperature control except for a duvet lined cooler box.
Min temp 11, max 31 oC in the next couple of days.
Do you all think BRY 97 will be able to cope?
Minimum in the cooler will probably be 18-20 oC, but max might be too high
