How much dry yeast should I pitch

Hey gang,

I want to do a 1.5 gal experimental batch for an Oatmeal stout. I was planning on using US-05 or Lalbrew S-33. With either is a half packet too much?

A half packet would be fine for either, assuming you have a reasonable OG.

I do fairly small batches (usually 2 gallons) and sometimes use Muntons which comes in 6 gram packs; I just use the whole pack. The last time I used it I used a 4 year old pack and it came out good.

It will work. It's a lot harder to damage a beer by overpitching than by underpitching.
