Couple of grainfathers... one for sparge water?
Definitely a limitation of the system, I have a Brewzilla, basically the same machine really. I use DME to bring up ABV, it does so without "thinning" out the beer.I had a buddy who was getting out of the hobby. He had a V1 G30 and something happened with the controller or something and they sent him a V3 free so when I bought his stuff, he gave me both. Use one for spare water. Works out nice.
Added the sugar because I never seem to get the higher abv numbers I want. Maybe it’s limitations with the system and grain amount. Did it for a little extra kick.

This is one of the primary benefits/intents of the quarterly brews; to brew something you wouldn't ordinary brew. I plan to brew this, just not sure when. Life (work, family events, a bad cold) have messed up my brewing schedule.I’ll be brewing a hazy today inspired by Q2. Never brewed a hazy before, and this recipe gave me the push I needed. My biggest change is lowering the ABV to something more sessionable, simply because I don’t manage myself well with 8%’ers in kegs.![]()
Gotta get more people brewing these quarterly recipes. Its fun to see different brewers approach these recipe from different angles. Makes for some interesting discussion. We’ll be picking for the THIRD quarter brewer at the zoom meeting on June 28th. Time flies.
I agree. I’m guilty of not brewing, but I’m consuming less. I need to start making smaller batches I guess.Gotta get more people brewing these quarterly recipes. Its fun to see different brewers approach these recipe from different angles. Makes for some interesting discussion.
