WARNING: Kettle losses > 2% detected which throw off OG calculation for extract/partial mash recipes in batch target 'fermentor' mode. Solution: Reduce kettle losses, misc losses and hops absorption in equipment profile, OR set batch target to 'kettle' and do a full wort boil. See batch target FAQ.

Notes

Collect and heat 3 gallons of water.

Pour crushed grain into mesh bag and tie the open end in a knot. Steep for 20 minutes or until water reaches 170°F. Remove
bag and discard.

Bring to a boil and add the 6 lb s Pilsen malt syrup.Remove the kettle from the burner and stir in the Pilsen malt syrup.

Return wort to boil.

-- Add 1 oz Cluster hops and boil for 60 minutes.

Cool the wort to approximately 100° F as rapidly as possible.

Fill primary fermenter with 2 gallons of cold water, then pour in the cooled wort.

Add more cold water as needed to bring the volume to 5 gallons.

Aerate the wort. Seal the fermenter and rock back and forth to splash for a few minutes, or use an aeration system and diffusion stone.
