I just installed a Weldless Try clamp bulk head that will hold a 5500 watt try clamp elementin my HLT, I am getting it ready for a basement electric brew system.
I am hoping to brew soon, but the basement brewery wont be ready. If I don't put the heating element in the pot and put a cap on the try clamp bulk head I was wondering if I use my gas burner to brew with if you think it would be too hot for the Bulk head?
Here is the bulk head that is in the pot...….https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/tc15wlf.htm

As long as that silicon o ring ain't to far from the flame should be good. Better yet make a heat shield below the bulkhead for better protection a bit of alfoil might do the trick or coke can with a bit of magivering? That way the flame ain't directly on the bulkhead.

The silicone gasket is likely good to 500 degrees F and your pot won't get much hotter than boiling water so you should be good.

Agree with both. NO direct flame on gasket, no problem.
