I have very basic brewing equipment... Mash tun (rectangle cold box with tap & strainer). I learnt a long time ago that my mash tun doesn't cope well with sparging. i.e. it's prone to channeling and/or uneven extraction. Leading to inconsistent results. Knowing this I double mash and hit my numbers within a few %. So why would I try to sparge like I did on Sunday! It's not like I bought a fancy new mash tun!
