This is probably a dumb question, but I am going to tap my first keg today and all I have is a picnic tap with a ball lock disconnect. My question is about sanitation. It seems to me that I should sanitize the picnic tap before I hook it up today and sample the keg, but is it good to go after that? Meaning, can I leave the tap on for the next 3 weeks or so while I kick this keg or do I need to sanititze it periodically? I'm assuming I don't need to take it off every time I drink from the keg, right? Thanks!

by picnic tap do you mean it pushes air or is it hooked to CO2?

we are a bar and our lines are cleaned roughly every 2-3 weeks. keep it all cold and it will be fine.

That’s what I do, sometimes for months. As long as you keep the keg cold and pressurized the picnic tap will be fine if left attached.

I keep it on as well.
I try to remember to push starsan through it once the keg has kicked

I use the same thing. I drop it in some Star San before I hook it up. I don't need to do shit until the keg is kicked. Once the keg is kicked, I force carb very low and run PB through the line. I force carb the keg again before I use the keg to a very low level and run Star San through the line.
