Brewing this this weekend:

http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/r ... ish-porter

Something simple for a change, single infusion, batch sparge. The recipe is very similar to the Dry Dock's "Naked Porter", a beer I absolutely adore and can't understand why they contaminate with vanilla (I'm thinking chocolate, raspberry, cinnamon....). But first the base. What do you think, gents?

Looks solid to me. Judicious use of hops is wise for this style.

Do you want to mash at 152 or higher?

I have some data on the Dry Dock's "Naked Porter". They mash at 153°. So I'll likely start at 153° and let the temp drift downward over the hour. My grain bill differs from theirs somewhat - I use all Maris Otter while they use some Pale Malt, I use no Carafa, they use no Brown, they use a late addition of Centennial which I'll leave out (this time, at least). Should be good, though.
