Hi folks,
I have a stout recipe that includes 28 oz of date molasses as a late addition to the kettle. The weight and SRM of the molasses (80) is included in calculations that should only use mashed ingredients:
Thanks!
I have a stout recipe that includes 28 oz of date molasses as a late addition to the kettle. The weight and SRM of the molasses (80) is included in calculations that should only use mashed ingredients:
- In the Brew! mash calculator, the total grain weight includes the molasses (15.5 lb instead of 13.75 lb), which changes all of the water calculations.
- In the main recipe view, the SRM is used to calculate the headline mash pH (changing the SRM for this ingredient from 80 to 1 changes the mash pH from 5.05 to 5.46).
- In the water calculator, the molasses is imported into the grist info and used to calculate mash pH (approximately the same effect).
Thanks!
