How to connect or share with other brewers

Just joined. My friend is a member too. I would like to friend with him or whatever you call it. I can not find a way to connect or anyway to search for his recipes. As far as I can tell finding another brewer is really difficult. Finding others profiles seems challenging. I imagine I am just a rookie here and these things are not really issues.

Is there not an easier way? After 5 minutes of clicking the highest numbered page I could...it finally got to the usernames that started with a B on like page 37 or something... Who's got that kind of time?!
