Hop Sock?

Any one ever used a stainless spice ball in lieu of the cloth hop sock when boiling your hop additions. Obviously I use the BIAB approach.

Yeah, it works fine. Just remember the hops expand 2-3x so don't fill it full.
 
I've used metal tea infusers on small batches before. Seemed to work as effectively as a hop bag
 
I tried the tea balls twice.
The first time, and the last time... :D
I just use a paint strainer bag, cheap and easy, just like the.... never mind....

That's what I do too, I feel like I'm going to get better contact of I just throw it in without a sock.

In the other thread I talked about adding hops at high krauesen - another benefit: The yeast actually flocs out after the hops drop, so the yeast forms kind of a seal over the hop debris, preventing off-flavors....
 
I'm a toss them in at the same time as the yeast guy, but the premise doesn't change.
