Just curious about two settings in the equipment profile set up. Recently got a new kettle with a trub dam on the pick up tube. Looks like it will be an awesome design, but it leaves about 500-750ml behind in the kettle when transferring. I have included this in “Kettle Losses”

I also have .005L/ gram for hop absorption also in the calculator which I assume only applies to kettle hop additions as the calculator seems to target fermentor volume.

A recent recipe I entered (a scaled version of Wayners Pale Ale community brew) shows 0.8L of water lost to hop absorption and another 0.75L for kettle losses.

Just looking for some help/clarification that I’m not doubling these losses up.

Thanks!

Yup, you should be set up correctly. Feel free to tweak the numbers as you go and get more precise data!

In my Wayner's batch, I was caught a bit off guard at how much water a half pound of hops sucks in. It all worked out Ok though.

It's somewhere in the neighborhood of 0.1 qt/oz.
