I am in the planning stages for a Doppelbach.
I have a nice big pitch of WLP820 coming off my Festbier and want to take advantage of it.
    For starters, I'm thinking;

    75% Barke Munich
    20% Munich 2
    5% Caramunich 2
~ 20 IBU Hallertau Mittelfruh or Tradition
    WLP820
    Targeting ~7.5% ABV
2 step or single infusion mash with a 90 minute boil
    Munich water profile
    Thoughts?

    Double creek?

Recipe looks good, fermentation will make or break this beer. Start cold, then let it heat itself after high krauesen.

A doppelbock (as opposed to a bock) will be nice with that grain bill. It will be malty all right.

I should get 71% attenuation so a finish of 1.021-1.024
    7.5% - 8%

In German, "bach" means a small stream. "Bock" technically means "buck", as in male deer, but in the case of "doppelbock" it's a corruption of a city name, Einbeck, where bock beer was first brewed.

So if you have a double small stream, is it a medium? o_O

Well, if you wanted to talk about a really small stream, you could use Bächlein...

Well, not sure how I derailed on the spelling, but I'm sure it's not my worst mistake! Thanks for the play on words and the history lesson.
