I am in the planning stages for a Doppelbach. I have a nice big pitch of WLP820 coming off my Festbier and want to take advantage of it. For starters, I'm thinking; 75% Barke Munich 20% Munich 2 5% Caramunich 2 ~ 20 IBU Hallertau Mittelfruh or Tradition WLP820 Targeting ~7.5% ABV 2 step or single infusion mash with a 90 minute boil Munich water profile Thoughts? Brian
Double creek? Recipe looks good, fermentation will make or break this beer. Start cold, then let it heat itself after high krauesen.
In German, "bach" means a small stream. "Bock" technically means "buck", as in male deer, but in the case of "doppelbock" it's a corruption of a city name, Einbeck, where bock beer was first brewed.
Well, not sure how I derailed on the spelling, but I'm sure it's not my worst mistake! Thanks for the play on words and the history lesson.
