Coconut in Beer

Was at Homebrew Night in Aurora, CO - the Dry Dock Brewery. One of our brewers had a coconut ale: It was a Belgian Ale with about a half-pound of coconut in the boil. Yummy! Recommended.... Darrell Collins' recipe. THX, Darrell! Want to share?

Ive made two beers with Coconut...a pale ale and a black ipa. Both I toasted 1lb of coconut and put it in the mash. Very nice coconut flavor but not overpowering.


I was actually surprised the coconut in my black ipa wasn't overpowered by the hops.
