Hi guys and Ladies;

I'm doing a second batch of my Jamestown Porter and I want to add frozen blackberries to cool the wort down and add to taste. Now hows best to do this?

I need to add i'm batch brewing 5 litres.

THANKS!!!

If you're talking about adding them at the end of the boil, just buy a pound and chuck them in! You'll get more blackberry flavor, though, if you'll add them later, after fermentation has started, and if you'll make sure they're crushed or macerated. And you do have to worry about sanitation! Best approach I've found to adding fruit is to either buy canned, sterile puree or to pasteurize the fruit by heating it to 160 degrees and holding it there for about 20 minutes.
