Remove calibration limit on hydrometer correction

That sounds like a good plan in theory, but I don't have a heated mash tun. I also have small children, so my mash times often get unplanned extensions. So my ending mash temp is often 5-6-F in the summer/ 8-10F in the winter lower than where I started, assuming I'm able to hold to a 60min...

Remove calibration limit on hydrometer correction

Yes during the brew session logs. I measure with this at the end of mash/pre-boil and post boil. I don't need Brewer's Friend to calibration the hydrometer, just adjust for the actual temp vs calibrated temp. I don't just take the reading off the hydrometer because I don't always mash at 155...

Remove calibration limit on hydrometer correction

I was doing the same. Checking calibration of both with distilled water before brew day. Measuring with both pre- and post-boil to update the WRI. The WRI figures were all over the board from 0.86 to 1.2. It gave me no confidence in the refractometer, so I've stashed it away. The hydrometer is a...

Remove calibration limit on hydrometer correction

I would if I could, but this is a hydrometer not a refractometer. I've never been happy with the accuracy or consistency of the refractometers I've used in the past. I've followed Brewer's Friend instructions for the wort correction factor and it swings widly from 0.86 - 1.2 from batch to batch...

Remove calibration limit on hydrometer correction

I just received Brewing America’s mash hydrometer and was frustrated that the temperature correction for hydrometer was locked at 55-75F. This is a hydrometer is calibrated at 155F for use at mash temps. Could this limit be removed so I don’t have to go to another site for temp corrections?

    August 15th Updates

Is there a reason that the Country tags were stripped from the non-branded munich malts? I had to turn off all the brands so my phone would load the grain drop-down, It would be nice to be able to specify by origin the malts without into a specific maltster. Overall with the brands being...

    Snapshots are annoying

Aren't the snapshots already tied to the original recipe at the bottom where it lists brew sessions? To keep them from cluttering things, I just made a "Snapshot" folder and move them their. If I need the specific recipe for that date, I follow the links at the bottom. I use the snapshots...

The grain I want to use is not listed - help!

The generics have lost their country tags in recipe creator, so they are currently hard (impossible) to find and use.

Awesome New Updates for January 2019!

I'd be happy to help where I can, I've sent you a private message. I saw that there are still generics, but when searching in recipe creator. I don't see country of origin on the generics anymore (see screen shot below). There's a generic pilsner at 1.7 srm, 1.4 srm, 1.9 srm and two more when...

Awesome New Updates for January 2019!

I hope this is another transitional state, but fermentables are currently not showing country of origin like it did previously, or brands. A bit confusing when you search for Munich and get 5 options with only just SRM to differentiate.

    Hop oil

Gotcha no big deal, I've just been adjusting standard hop additions to make it fit with what the manufacture said. It may be difficult without a lot of brewing, especially with different products and different manufacturers. Just saw that AIH has their hopeffect product line out...

    Hop oil

Has there been any luck with the IBU calculations for hop extract? I noticed that it has a set amount of IBU regardless of the AA% or boil time.

    best online brew shop?

Unfortunately, both my LHBS have closed down. There are some brew shops either hour and half away or near my in-laws three hours away. If I won't be going either direction, I've been purchasing from grain and yeast from MoreBeer, Atlantic Brew Supply, and Adventures in Homebrewing. Hops from...

    What's your next brew

Default hide zero amounts in inventory

It would be great if there was a way to keep the zero amounts hidden, or a way to en mass delete zero amounts from the inventory.

    Grain colour in ECB

When you switch units in recipe editor, not only does the color units not change but it also leaves ppg and doesn't change the weight of hops. I would expect changing the unit system would change all units.

    Hop Extract Additions in volumes

If it were possible, hop extracts have no option to enter as a volume (mL or fl oz). For something like a hop shot, I'm not sure how to enter it into my recipe. I've gotten guidance from multiple suppliers that 1ml = 10 IBU @ 1.050.
