    No-Rinse Sanitizer (Sodium Carbonate)

Thanks for the information. I had no idea that Star Sans could be used that many times. I think I've found a local industrial food products supplier down here that has Iodophor at very good pricing. So I guess it would be the pros and cons of three different sanitizing methods: Sodium...

    No-Rinse Sanitizer (Sodium Carbonate)

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a no-rinse sanitizer that I can easily find down where I am. (Mexico City) I can get "One-Step" and "Star-San", however, the cost is about 2 times as much as it is in the States ... and both of these are basically just a re-packaged form of Sodium Carbonate...

Go to place for ingredients ?

I've been buying my hops from Hops Direct. They seem to be an actual farm and have an extremely good variety at cheap prices. The only catch is that you have to buy in 1lb quantities. ..... Therefore, I've notices that my freezer tends to accumulate some of the lesser used varieties.

    Confused about efficiency.. please help

Hi Jahlovebrew. You did it perfectly. I usually don't add extra water for the brews that I do, therefore, I take my measurement from the cooled wort just before I drop it into the fermenter. But your OG reading is the one you want to take that has the wort in the condition it will be in...

    Confused about efficiency.. please help

Hey all! ... sorry about the mis-information in my post above!! I've never worked with steeping grains and only saw the part about the extracts!! But I didn't realize that steeping had such low efficiency! Good stuff to know for future experiments.

"Summer Daze" - Bell's Oberon Ale Clonish

One of my favorite recipes that I brewed (and drank) a lot of in 2012 was my "Oberon Ale Clone". Back in early May I took some bottles of Oberon Ale with me back down to Mexico and cultivated the yeast. I've tried a couple of different variations of clone recipes that I found on the...

    Recipe images (labels)

Avery has a pretty decent On-line labeling program. http://www.avery.com My profile pic has an example of a label I created on the Avery website. I mean, you're not going to get professional labels this way! ... but it keeps the bottle from looking naked ... and it's pretty cheap...

    Confused about efficiency.. please help

Hi Jahlovebrew, I don't think you need to worry too much about efficiency for extract brewing. Efficiency is more to do with All Grain brewing so you can see how much sugar you got out of the grains through mashing, milling and that kind of stuff. Just make sure you do the following...

    Saludos from Mexico City

Hello everyone, This looks like a great web site that is starting! I was up in the air about going with a software program (i.e. Beersmith) or using this cool-looking cloud-based tool kit. I've decided to go with Brewer's Friend! I will upgrade to a Premium account this week. Looking...

    Green beer taste

Yep! I've found that this is the best solution (in fact, it is the ONLY solution that seems to work in my case) I used to brew "as needed". But I found that when you are sitting there watching that ONE BATCH slowly come to drinking age .... at most only 2 or 3 bottles (sometimes no...
