    First all-grain batch soon...

Just bottled another part extract and upon initial taste it still had that slightly "homebrewy" taste. Can't wait to get on with my first all grain! :) I have a question however. I have all the gear bar ONE thing. That is the tap connectors for my wort chiller. As I went to order the bloomin...

Honey! I ruined the Christmas brew!

In the end I "dry spiced" with the zest of two oranges and 1/2 stick of cinnamon. Didn't notice much taste when it came to bottling but hoping after a couple weeks conditioning I should have some good results! :) Thanks for all your help guys :)

    Slight Problem with Refractometer

Finally got a reading on the digital reading. Cleaned the krausen off the top of the digital hydro and it came back with 1.028….. my manual (glass hydro) is reading 1.012….. what is going on here? Temp is bang on the digital reading. But. SG seems way off! I calibrated it before I set it in the...

Honey! I ruined the Christmas brew!

Hey guys, So after taking a reading of my Christmas brew I decided to have a little taste. It tastes EXACTLY like a malty home brew. No essences of my previously added orange zest or cinamon. It's just a malty brew thus far. I DID and COULD taste them. But, as fermentation has moved along. The...

    Slight Problem with Refractometer

Got a festive ale on the go right now. Inside the gorgeous Brew monk. However, hit a slight snag. The electronic hydrometer has stopped sending out readings. It did up until about 50 hrs ago. The lights flashing away but, alas, no readings coming through to the app. I presume it's because its...

    Graviator

Hey guys. I'm about to start a new brew and have the graviator set up and ready to go! Is it compatible with brewers friend? If so, how do I get it to synch up? Cheers Kirk

    Interesting....

It’s a little late but we started taste testing the brew last week…. There’s only ten bottles left! Everyone here loves it! The slight twang has completely settled since it’s been bottle aged. It tastes bloody delicious for an extract beer! Can’t believe it. Blown away by this, fantastic!

    Infection (I'm assuming)

Honestly never had a problem with it. I let my bottles soak in it for 15 mins. All fermentors and buckets and anything that is to come in contact with beer will soak in it! Works a charm. I even load it in my sprayer for quick jobs

    Infection (I'm assuming)

I use milton here in the UK. Its a sanitiser for baby feeding equipment. It's super cheap and works a charm! Not had an infection since

Exactly as stated by mibari. To avoid stuck sparge. Learnt that little nugget of info from this awesome forum! Thanks guys, so three packets of 34/70 would be better? Will do then! :)

    Infection (I'm assuming)

Very interesting to see. I've only ever brewed extracts and my first ever batch was infected. Was a brown slime. Tasted foul and smelt worse. Once i tipped the brew away I saw the source of the infection..... a big long dog hair had gotten into my brew.... I've had fleas ever since. Learnt my...

    Interesting....

I ended up using the spigot for the measurements, so that should've helped with oxidisation? also, no I did not use the calculator for difference. Think I should've done? There's a very good chance I didn't measure correctly :D Bottled x40 500ml in the end. Used 3g of priming sugar per bottle...

    Interesting....

Okie dokie! I'll bottle away! Any idea on how much to prime each bottle with? They didn't state in the instructions and the ABV is way higher than it should be on the sheet?

    Interesting....

So tested today. She bubbles every now again but much more settled now. Tasting and smelling very nice! :) Homebrewy but still, It tastes like a light IPA. So I'm happy. SG is at 1.007 which is what it was three days ago now? If it's bubbling should I bottle now? Or wait? This is a confusing...
