    Milled grain shelf life

It was. Got 5kg of Rye fine crush the other year then forgot about it. Probably 15 months or so. Chucked a bit in a few pales then did a 90% ish Rye saison with the rest. Tastes great.

    Milled grain shelf life

Probably doesn't help with your question but just made a Rye saison with around 4kg of Rye malt thats over a year old. (Bit of a bastard brew) Kept it in a tub for distilling with but never used it. Chucked a brew on and Kegged a few days ago. Its actually spot on, surprisingly.

Simple and good results. I might use that as don't really want to just dangle the probe. If lifting the lid for glasses or bottled beer. I'd imagine temps would fluctuate pretty bad.

Really good idea. Nice job I've been reading a little on heat differential and will be adding it to the 'future mod/upgrade' list. Lots of people have different ideas and results. Like the thermo. In a water bottle, dangling free in bubble wrap or stuck to side of a keg? Still. Unsure on that...

Quick lid fit test. Need to take a wee bit from inside collar and then foil tape. And seal it to freezer. Will add some insulation at some point, just going to get it pouring for now. Daughters 4th birthday weekend. So I'll try and get it up and running for early next week.... Hopefully.

Drilled tap holes, fit test and built the collar. Had some osmo left from a few years back so chucked a coat of that on. Instead of buying any stain. Was going to stain it dark but had this laying around so it got used. Will check again tomorrow and maybe recoat.

Timber turned up. Need to pick a stain colour, decide if using adhesive or mounting tape on the collar. Cut a recess in the rear of the collar (Hinges on the freezer are recessed in!) Think I'm pretty much ready to crack on now.

Sure will. Soon as the freezers here and collar wood is ordered I'll get some pics. Unsure on stain yet but quite like a dark stained oak against the black freezer. Not sure yet.

I've started buying the bits in now. Taps. JG fittings and 3/16 line. I'll give all that a go then get some eva if there's any issues. Those fittings look great. Just deciding on collar build now that's all sorted. Getting there, slowly.

Also just been checking out the 3/16 beer line on malt Miller. Seems the ID is 0.117″ so I would need a foot?! That can't be right can it?

    First Keezer Build. Few questions.

That's some good advice. Was debating where to put the faucets. Those look nice. I've just this minute purchased 2 x intertaps with flow control. Thought it was a decent price with shanks. I might put the taps to one side. I'll bear it mind when drawing up the collar. Don't want any spilt...

Great responses. Thank you. Appreciate it. Aye, eyeing up those intertap g2 flow. Everywhere seems sold out except an ebay listing for 57 with stainless shank. Not too bad. They come with 3/8 JG fittings so presumed use that size line. Looking like 4m starting point of 3/16 at 12psi and 6deg...

    First Keezer Build. Few questions.

Hi. I've been using some mini kegs with a sodastream bottle and have been really enjoying the little system. I've liked it that much I've decided to build a keezer for the dining room. Starting off with just 2 taps and have been wondering about beer line size and length. I've checked out the...

    Advice on mini mash

Thanks for all the quick responses. Some great advice, appreciated it. I'll get reading on conversion and sort a better recipe out by checking out the partial mash recipes on here. Will stick to the 2 hour brew days for a while, then look to step up later in the year.

    Advice on mini mash

I've recently got back into brewing and enjoying the mini mash method as it fits into a hectic week schedule quite well. Banged out a Malt Miller APA kit and just bottled their liquid punk clone. APA 2 weeks old and fridge for 2 days... Nice drop. Bit more time and should be alreet...

    Back in the game

Not sure on the Pint365 cylinder. Might be half pint. Still trying to see how hoppy pales fare through a beer engine. Stouts and what not will be very nice I'm sure.

    Back in the game

The Pint365? Home beer engine. Connects to polypins or bag in box. Of if you've got gas, a corny keg under low pressure. Plan is to get some 5L polypins and fill 3 of them, then bottle the rest of the batch. Get a fridge set up and enjoy hand pulled homebrew all the time

adding coffee to a coffee stout

Not sure if I'm doing the full batch with coffee yet, as I've been toying with bottling half and adding coffee to the remainder. Or else I'd be looking into adding coffee malt into the recipe.
