Fermenting in Stainless Steel with no sight glass?

I have used these handles as well for years. I always use them to lift and hold onto the carboy when cleaning. If I am carrying a full carboy, I always support the weight on the bottom. Maybe I have been lucky. I dropped one once and it cracked my fiberglass sink which I had to replace, but the...

Ways you’ve changed as a brewer this year

I am constantly learning every time that I make a beer. I hear of things that others are doing and either try them myself and/or pass them off to our members of our homebrew club. One thing that I did differently this year was adding fruit to a beer after I cold crashed it. I get a lot more of...

Ways you’ve changed as a brewer this year

I switched up from my composition notebook to using my computer and then storing my notes in the cloud so I have them with me wherever I am at. It really comes in handy when someone is trying one of my beers and wants details. I do use the brew session feature as well, but the notes come in handy.

    Extract Brew Log

I did an extract brew today. Normally I do all grain, and I noticed there was no Pre-Boil Gravity in the drop down for log entries. I ended up using Sample, but I know when I all grain brew, there is a drop down for Pre-Boil Gravity.

Printing a Recipe pulls in user profile information

Thanks. I just click on the link to the recipe, in this case the rootbeer recipe from kcpup. When I select Print, it puts in my beer profile and the notes in the bottom that I use metric and it converts everything to metric in the notes on the bottom. The only time that it comes out with just...

Printing a Recipe pulls in user profile information

I found a recipe that I wanted to try. I pulled up the recipe in Brewer's Friend and went to print it. When I print it, it pulls in one of my saved brewing profiles (RoboBrew) and makes adjustments and calculations to the recipe. I only wanted to print the recipe as I originally found it...

    Label Generator Feature Reqest

Great, thanks for the quick response. It would still be nice to have this with the Label Generator under Tools so they are all in the same location.

    Label Generator Feature Reqest

I really like the label generator feature, but like Ferdaze mentioned above, it would be great to take it from our brew sessions with our actual numbers and not from the recipe. I see that the ticket to update this is almost 2 years old. Was it decided it would not be possible or did it just...

US to Metric Water Calculation Problem

I started my brew and noticed my water calculations were way off. I switched to Metric and everything worked out OK. It looks like everything changes, except for the starting mash thickness. When I am on US units of 1.5 quarts per pound, the conversion will change to 3L/KG when I switch all my...

    Mix Measurement Units?

You probably already know this by now, but from what I have seen, you can choose your unit of measurement in the Fermentables and Hops sections, but not in the mash section. When changing the mash section, you have to change your entire recipe to either US or Metric. I did put in a request to...

Metric for Volume and Weight. Fahrenheit for temp.

So I am in the US, so when I go to the homebrew shop, everything is in pounds and ounces. My RoboBrew has marking for gallons and liters. As you can see, it is much harder to guess the volume between gallon markings than between liter markings. I measure my grain in pounds, but I want to be able...

How to Build a Recipe in Brewer's Friend

Great video. A lot more to it than what I have been doing. I really like how you show how this ties to your inventory, and also how to see the amount of sparge water you should have. The water chemistry was also very interesting and something that I will need to look into further.
