    Cleaning agents???

I use oxygen bleach then star san. oxygen bleach is vanish, oxy clean etc and is sodium bicarbonate. you can get it pretty cheap if you just buy sodium bicarbonate from a chemical supplier. I think bicarbonate of soda and white vinegar does the same job

this is the m29 top croped last night and some more about half a hour ago, so still settling. probably a total of about 20 tablespoons fished out of the jerry. I guess the top non yeast stuff that will eventually become trub will sink?? some shooting stars from the bottom as you can see. looking...

    Mangrove Jack's Yeast

theres a guy on home-brew talk who is washing safe ale dry yeast after a brew and he says 2nd and 3rd brews are even better and YOOPER who is on here, does it also, same site. I was thinking about trying it too. actually I will as thats all my yeast supply gone and 19$ for liquid is too much...

    Mangrove Jack's Yeast

I have used it twice from the pack now, great results so far with m29, this link has the best info on mj as there website for some reason doesn't give any useful info, says a bit about why not to reuse. could be just a sales ploy...

Add extra boil hop utilization when whirlpool hops are also added

this is a interesting subject and a difficult calculation to work out, not sure.... but if (aa per g of hop strain) x time @ boil = ibu , then this must be possible to work by doing Ibu tests at decreasing temps from a boil and recording the values and generate a curve which would probably...

    Non bittering hops?

funny just went and had a sniff of them and my nose concurs with what you say above, galaxy then Motueka and ekg further back in terms of strength. thanks mark! I might just save the ekg for something else then.

    Non bittering hops?

ok I understand now, thanks. one other thing, I bought citra for the bittering and some galaxy, ekg and Motueka for the whirl pooling and dry hopping. smelling the citra is amazing but so much stronger than the others, will do a 60 and 1 or two late boil additions of citra. do you think im...

    Non bittering hops?

yeah I've just been reading about whirlpool and hopback. whirlpool is technical term for stirring slowly I presume? I put hopback in to my recipe (plonk a bag in for some time) so will do a addition after boil as it cools and I also am doing no chill, as no chiller, no bathtub and I can't make...

    Non bittering hops?

ok so citra for the rakau and Motueka for the opal. is Motueka not a good bittering hop? I can get the warrior and magnum

    Non bittering hops?

im trying to find replacements for opal and rakau hops from what is available to me, from what I have read I could replace opal with ek goldings and rakau with Amarillo. was also thinking of Motueka, mosaic, galaxy and citra as substitutes for rakau. I am trying to recreate the sidartha of...

    rapid ferment / off flavours

so here is the result of the saison brewed at a steady 29-30 •C. for my first brew I am very happy with the result, I think it will continue to improve as this tasting was a week after bottling. full of different flavours and VERY gulpable. all my worries about off flavours and the temperature...
